The La Tienda Exhibit Space is the only free arts space serving the roughly 20,000 people in the Eldorado/285 corridor community. With more than 6,000 visits since it opened in December, 2009, it has proved itself an invaluable community resource. Since its inception, it has showcased the works of over 100 local artists. Almost every show has generated sales for artists.
It is the only space in the Santa Fe area that does not take a commission from artists, is exclusively dedicated to local artists, and creates an opportunity for local artists without gallery representation to hang their work in a professional environment.
The La Tienda Exhibit Space is a project of Learning Mind while it pursues its own 501-c-3.
Learning Mind, a not-for-profit organization is dedicated to promoting education to children who otherwise would not have the opportunity. In addition to education programs, Learning Mind works toward improving social and economic conditions to rural areas via micro loans, assistance in health care treatments and expenses.
Learning Mind provides assistance to rural areas in under developed / economically deprived areas. We work directly with people in need, not through large organizations or NGO’s; therefore 100% benefiting the people who need it. With your support we will continue providing educational opportunities to underprivileged young people around the world.
The La Tienda Exhibit Space supports Learning Mind’s mission of promoting activities for education and improvement of social and economic conditions via free enrichment opportunities to children / young adults.
Learning Mind also operates a not-for-profit bookstore which is located next to the La Tienda Exhibit Space. Beyond Borders Books and Music is staffed entirely by volunteers. All books and music are donated and 100% of proceeds go to support Learning Mind projects. In addition to book sales, Beyond Borders Books hosts readings, book signings, live music and art exhibitions.
Unlike most umbrella organizations, Learning Mind does not take a percentage of contributions to the La Tienda Exhibit Space.
